By Heather Foye- "working with PACE-Ghana was an incredible experience..." Fordham Global Outreach-Ghana team 2011 Working with the PACE-Ghana team was an incredible experience, and I am so glad that I was able to travel to Ghana. It was great to feel like part of a community while working on various projects in the schools, library, and hospital of Worawora.
Exchange Program for community service and learning
Since it's establishment in 2004, the Okyeame Dankwa Memorial Library and PACE-Ghana has served as the foundation for numerous programs and projects that have enhanced the lives of local community members and many visitors from organizations and universities from the United States. PACE-Ghana provide cross cultural service learning for students, interns, youth programs, colleges and universities, churches and community organization.
We currently partner with Fordham University, LeMoyne College, ProLiteracy International Program, Blue Tree Studio, Beyond Boundaries and Africa Bound. Participants volunteer with PACE-Ghana in Worawora for 2 weeks to a month depending on his/her flexibility. During this period intern's lives in the local community and follow the daily routine. Interns and volunteers work with the community hospital, teach at local school, teach adult learners, renovate schools and participate in other various program offer by PACE-Ghana.
